Challenge
Develop an easy-to-implement system that allowed the Washington Redskins to present each of their sponsors with a year-end recap of the results of their sponsorship.
Solution
For years, at the end of each season, the Redskins would put together a presentation to their corporate sponsors that recapped the scope and outcomes of the each investment. It was typically done in PowerPoint, and according to them, it was “just a mess”—so bad, in fact, that they were hesitant to show us at the outset of this project.
Our view was that PowerPoint just wasn’t cutting it as a medium. When it comes to the level of sponsorship that the Washington Redskins work with, we felt it is essential to put forward the best possible impression—after all, their goal was not only to keep their sponsors coming back for more next year, but to increase their level of investment the following year. Their best chance to do so was to blow their sponsors away and convey the benefits they’ve received in a compelling way. Oh, and it had to be something that CMOs could easily share with the other various departments within an organization.
Our solution was an interactive, content-managed (ExpressionEngine) sponsorship recap microsite template for the ‘Skins that would allow their team to input a custom letter, a recap of a specific sponsorship along with corresponding imagery and graphics, and outline future opportunities that a sponsor might take part in. Since the template was web-based, it allowed for faster, safer sharing and allowed us to integrate interactive digital features such as video clips that their existing, static template missed.
This project was unfortunately never fully deployed for the Washington Redskins, due to circumstances beyond our control. If you’re interested in learning how we can develop a creative web-based sponsorship recap for your team that leaves a positive impression with your sponsors, we’d love to talk.
